SUMMARY:16th European Public Health Conference
DESCRIPTION:The European Public Health (EPH) Conference is an annually organised scientific conference on public health issues in Europe. Each year the conference is organised in a different country by the EPH Conference Foundation in close cooperation with one or more local partner(s). The conference actively seeks a larger partnership with other European NGOs and institutions. \nThe conference of this year\, in Dublin (Ireland)\, hopes to open up part of this discussion\, with a focus on health\, and health care. We will look specifically at gender and health\, at health care delivery generally\, the use of digital tools\, and the necessary staffing and skills to provide good care. We will\, in line with the overall  conference theme\, look in depth at the climate emergency\, and very specifically at the human food supply. \nRussia’s invasion of Ukraine poses serious risks to global food security that will require a range of responses from governments and international organizations. The unfolding crisis in Ukraine will push up already-high food price inflation\, and have serious consequences for low-income net-food importing countries\, many of which have seen an increase in malnourishment rates over the past few years in the face of pandemic disruptions. The Ukraine conflict not only exposes the evil of the current Russian government\, but also our failure to create a resilient sustainable global food supply. We can do better\, and we have to do better.

SUMMARY:Personalised Digital Healthcare and the European Health Data Space
DESCRIPTION:It is expected that during the six months of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU the processing will continue\, presumably at first reading\, of the proposal for the European Health Data Space Regulation. Among other aims\, one of the effects of this project will be to promote personalised healthcare\, through the provision of face-to-face and virtual services for patients\, specifically adapted to their characteristics and health situation. \nPersonalised medicine will reinforce the efficiency and sustainability of the NHS\, as the use of data and its exploitation (AI\, big data) offers professionals new tools to help in prevention\, diagnosis and treatment. \nThe application of these digital personalised medicine tools\, including genomics\, to Primary and Community Care\, in an integrated manner with hospital care\, is being promoted in Spain\, through the regional health services\, as in the rest of the EU\, by the arrival of MRR funds\, through the Plan for the Digital Transformation of Primary and Community Care\, endowed with €230 million\, and the Plan for Digital Personalised Care\, endowed with €130 million. \nBoth plans will be developed in collaboration with the autonomous communities\, offering the possibility of improving care for people through the primary and secondary use of the data that the Regulation will regulate. \n\n\nA meeting with representatives of the health ministries of some member states\, the health departments of the autonomous communities and European institutions\, business associations and representatives of the bio-health sector to analyse: \n\nThe experience of the primary use of data in healthcare in some European guest countries and the personalised digital care projects of the autonomous communities\, as part of the NHS digital health strategy.\nThe general framework of the European Regulation on the European Health Data Space.\nThe experience of some European countries in managing the secondary use of health data and the prospects this opens up for the bio-health\, pharmaceutical and research sectors.\nChallenges for the use of data in terms of ethics\, technology and cybersecurity.

SUMMARY:Advancing inclusivity in health care through the use of telehealth
DESCRIPTION:Access to health care is a universal right that must be available to all individuals\, regardless of their background. However\, there are still significant disparities in access to services\, particularly among marginalized populations and underserved communities. To bridge this gap and ensure equitable health outcomes\, it is crucial to focus on achieving inclusivity in health care delivery. Telemedicine has gained increasing prominence as a promising solution to address these disparities. \nBy leveraging the potential of telehealth\, providers can reduce costs and increase availability of services\, while patients can receive quality care regardless of their area of residence. Moreover\, telehealth solutions may include accessibility features\, such as screen readers\, closed captioning\, and alternative communication methods\, to accommodate individuals with disabilities and allow immunocompromised or severely ill patients to receive consultations from the comfort and safety of their homes. \nTo achieve optimal inclusivity through telehealth\, it is crucial to understand the unique challenges faced by diverse communities and tailor the solutions accordingly. The 1-hour webinar\, hosted by WHO/Europe’s data and digital health team via Zoom\, will bring together a panel of experts who have experience in the use of telehealth as a part of the digital transformation of health care\, and will share insights on best practices and lessons learned.
