The OECD Roundtable will provide insights on how OECD Member countries and non-Members can better harness health data to enhance better healthcare, while ensuring privacy and data protection, in line with the OECD Recommendation on Health Data Governance. The Roundtable will bring together key stakeholders including policy makers, experts from industry, civil society, patient associations, regulators, health providers, and academia to deepen our collective understanding of the legal bases and approval processes that allow the secondary uses of health data in the public interest supported by data protection safeguards.

The roundtable will cover three main themes and will feed into a draft report on each of these themes:

·       Legal bases for health data processing: consent and public interest;

·       Building on commonalities, differences and best practices to streamline health data collaboration project approvals;

·       Fostering public trust in health data processing for research.
